How to play MahJong
Mahjong is a tile matching game played with 144 tiles (72 sets), which are basically similar in function to the playing cards.
Each tile has a picture and number. The object of the game is to clear the playing area of tiles by matching similar pairs of tiles before the time runs out.
On most sites you should just click on two matching tiles in order to match and clear them. In order to do so, the tiles must not only match in picture and number, but also has to be completely free. A tile is considered free on the below cases:
1. no part of the tile is covered by another tile on top of it
2. at least one horizontal side of the tile is open
*Tiles marked with a 3 letter code can be matched with other tiles with a 3 letter code, even with different pictures, as long as the code is in the same corner of the tile.
Tips for Mah Jong:
You should try to clear the tiles at the top of the pyramid and at the outer edges first, thereby clearing a path to the inner tiles.
You may be presented with a situation where there are 3 of the same tiles that you can match up and remove.
You should take your time to look at the tiles next to these to see which ones are most needed going forward. You can then remove the 2 tiles that will be most helpful.
